Metal Week Continues with the Big Four, and Programming Notes

I went to the same high school as the lead singer of Overkill. I found that out towards the end of an interview I was doing with the guy for a story I never got around to writing. It was funny because the revelation that we had something in common struck us both as sort of shameful (the fact that it’s an all-boys Catholic School probably had something to do with that).

When I used to tell the story, I like to explain that Overkill were the fifth biggest thrash metal band of the ’80s. Now, I lead with how they’re probably the number one bitterest observer of the “Big Four” metal package tour of Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer and Megadeth.

And while I feel for my fellow Don Bosco Ironman, I love how easy thrash metal is now.

So that’s a long way of saying I am going to be focusing on those four bands this week. Maybe I’ll drift away a little bit, too.
