Eponymous Gangster Week Continues: Strange, and Possibly True, Facts About Whitey Bulger: Part Five

Whitey Gets an Object Lesson in Being a Health Nut and a Sociopath

Assuming you’re able to look past the fact that a guy was shot in the face to make the gag happen, this is a pretty funny story.

According to former Whitey associate Kevin Weeks, Whitey was hunting for a guy in a gang war. He thought he saw the dude in a car driving towards him. The car stopped and Whitey called the guy’s name. When the guy looked over, Whitey shot him, point blank.

Only it was the wrong guy. That is, it was the brother of the guy they wanted to kill. And what’s more, it’s a guy they actually liked, a guy that wasn’t involved in the gang war. Whitey, upset I guess, told his boss Billy O’Sullivan about the mix-up.

“Jimmy… told O’Sullivan, who was at the stove cooking, “I shot the wrong one. I shot Donald.” Billy looked up from the stove and said, ‘Don’t worry about it. He wasn’t healthy anyway. He smoked. He would have gotten lung cancer. How do you want your pork chops?”

Is that the best Sopranos scene never filmed or what?
